What is Radioiodine Therapy?
Radioiodine therapy uses radioactive iodine-131 (I-131) to selectively destroy overactive or cancerous thyroid tissue. Because the thyroid naturally absorbs iodine, the radiation targets only thyroid cells, leaving surrounding tissues unharmed.
